Cowboys Heroes & Friends Western Festival 2000 Travelogue

Sunday October 29th

The festival celebrated 'The Lords Day ' in a Cowboy Church put on by the Stars...Testifying and singing  Western Gospel music.  What a glorious morning show!  Topping the morning show off was a phone call for all to hear to "Dale Evens Queen of the West" and we all sang Happy Birthday to Dale.  There wasn't  many dry eyes in the theater.

After the Show, a few sad good-byes were said and we had a sudden realization that the Western Festival was all but over, way too soon.

As we did five short days ago, we went back to our town of Tumbleweed.  It was time to take it down and store it away for the long trip back home.

On Behalf of The Vigilantes,  I would like to thank Dusty Webb, president of The Old West Living History Foundation.  Without his year-around hard work,  this Western Arts Festival would not have been nearly as good.  It a thankless job, putting on competitions around this great country, but we can tell in Dustys case that it is a labor of love, love of the Old West and love of the Lord.  The State Champion teams came because of Dusty.  Thanks Dusty we wish you Happy & Safe Trails.

I would like to thank all the Teams that took part in this western festival.  I know without the supporting actors, our shows wouldn't be the quality we've come to expect or may not even happen.  So to all the Guys & Gals that didn't get mentioned or pictured,  it's really you guys that helped make this Western Festival great.  I got Best Actor, not because that I'm the best, but because of all the character actors on our team making me look good.  Thanks guys.

I would like to thank Jim Grady & Steve Rhodes and their Staff for all the hard work it took to make this the best possible Christian Oriented Western Festival in the Nation.  Job well done! We of the Vigilantes pledge to you our help in our mutual goal.

I would like to thank all the Vigilantes.  Thirty-one volunteers that are there when they are supposed to be and none of them are afraid of a little hard work.   Way to go guys!  You never cease to amaze me by your devotion and commitment!

Last but not least, I would like to Thank My Lovely Wife, Miss Clara Chestnut.  Without her I could have never done any of this.  She is my Best Friend and the Love of my Life.

Respectfully yours

G.W. Poe  President of The Osage Valley Vigilantes
